The pre-season collections are growing ever more important as a source of income for the fashion houses. I was only vaguely aware of their existence until a few years ago. Now they’re as important to me as the main lines as a source for inspiration. I’ve just browsed the Céline pre-fall 2013 collection, after seeing several copies of their pieces from their pre-spring 2013 collection at H&M yesterday. That’s the thing with fashion junkies; we always want what’s next, even though the latest is right in front of us … Here’s what inspires me already from the Céline pre-fall 2013 collection:
I’m in love with my new pencil skirt from H&M! It’s a bordeaux color, it’s leather, and it fits me perfectly! To be teamed with chunky knits, loose fitting t-shirts or silk blouses. No more break downs in the morning over having nothing to wear to the office!
If you haven1t decided what style trend to go for this season yet, check out the military inspired style as interpreted in the Topshop Unique collection! I’ve never really fancied this style before, but this collection has me crushing hard! I was going to list for you what items I would want in particular, but the list got so long, I’ll just say I want the whole collection!! Including shoes, bags and jewelry, of course.
Basking in the sun in beautiful Barcelona, I’m making full use of my summer favorites, such as the printed shorts and shirt I bought earlier this summer. Here are a couple of outfit pictures to make up for that I’m having too much fun to blog about it. I’ve taken plenty of pictures and notes and will make a little Barcelona guide once I get home. Now I’m off to find more vintage and records (vinyl) stores!
A fashion blogger cannot go on vacation without a full range of shoes. Different looks need different shoes! Today I’ll hopefully find a new pair of loves.
My beau and I have arrived in Barcelona, and finally I get to wear my summer wardrobe! Back home in Oslo it´s been the worst summer in 80 years, so arriving here, with the heat and the humidity, was a shock to the system. But how absolutely fabulous to head out for drinks and a late night snack wearing a short lace summer dress and flat sandals!
This is the lace dress I bought on impulse at Mango earlier this summer. It’s a bit more romantic in it’s style than what I usually go for, but teaming the dress with simple, no-fuss accessories gives a contrast that makes the outfit less girly and sweet. The leather money pouch is from Monki and the bracelet is from Bik Bok.
This summer in Oslo has required shoes more sturdy and water proof than sandals. I went for these white leather flatforms about a month ago, and have been wearing them for an androgynous office look of white or mint skinnies teamed with shirts. This autumn I hope to find a tweed, gem colored or graphic patterned suit to team them with.
The shoes are from asos´revival collection for this year´s spring and summer. The revival collection is created by Ebru Ercon, former head designer at Adidas by Stella McCartney, and infuses the spirit of late ‘80s and early ‘90s with a modern aesthetic.
This type of flatforms are known as brothel creepers. There´s a disturbing origin to this name, but the shoes have redeemed themselves with a long history of later association to a range of music genres and associated clothes styles. This style of shoe was developed in 1949 by George Cox, and this company is also behind the production of these asos shoes. So they´re a true product of fashion history in many ways!
Last night I was at Rhianna´s concert in Oslo. What a fabulously sassy vixen! Her outfit consisted of a chain print, baggy jumpsuit; a chunky gold chain necklace; gold cuff bracelets; and a black leather cap decorated with a huge *ss gold snake. I must admit I developed quite a girl crush for her… Tonight I´ll be crushing even harder, as I´m going to concerts with Billy Idol (Bad Boy Billy, sigh…) and KISS!!!
In the video of Just un Clou by Cartier in the previous post they play Just Like Honey by The Jesus and Mary Chain. I´ve been rediscovering this band lately, and Just Like Honey is one of my favorites, along with Head On, You Trip Me, Happy When it Rains, Never Understand, Snake Driver, April Skies, Cracking Up… The list is long
I´m also loving the band´s look of black leather trousers and jackets paired with charcoal T-shirts or shirts or black and white stripy jumpers.
